Ranking Brazil’s cities

Ranking Brazil's cities

A.T. Kearney’s Global Cities Index (GCI) examines a comprehensive list of 84 cities on every continent, measuring how globally engaged they are across 26 metrics in five dimensions: business activity, human capital, information exchange, cultural experience, and political engagement. Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro rank 34 and 56 respectively in the CGI.  (New York, London, Paris and Tokyo head the CGI. Sydney and Melbourne are at 14 and 25 respectively.)
The companion Emerging Cities Outlook (ECO) complements the GCI. Just as the GCI tracks major cities' actual performance, the ECO measures their potential to become even more global in the future.    In this ranking, Sao Paulo sits at number 4 with Rio at number 6….separated by New Delhi.  (Jakarta heads the ECO, with Beijing at 12 and Istanbul at 15.)
