The Australian business events sector, worth more than $13 billion a year…
Business events visitors in Australia are down overall to 19.2 million in the year to September, from 20.4 million in 2013…and down across all categories.
Domestic overnight business events visitors were down from 9.8 million to 9.5 million and domestic day trip visitors were down slightly from 9.8 million to 8.9 million visitors.
However, international business events visitors were up for the year to 842,000.

Tourism:  The Tourism Research Association has cited record expenditure of $30 billion (up 7%) by international visitors in 2013/14, and $72 billion (up 3%) by domestic travellers  — with a target of $115 billion up to $140 billion by 2020. Overall in Australia, domestic visitor overnight spend was up 4% to $53.7 billion and overnight trips were up 5% to 79.7 million.
